The Comprehensive Analysis, Surveillance and Statistics Initiative for Diabetes in the Young (CASSIDY) network is funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and includes five clinical centers and a coordinating center at NYU Langone Health. The network is modernizing the use of electronic health records to generate geographically representative measures of diabetes burden and diabetes-related complications among children, adolescents and young adults.
Researchers assess the prevalence and incidence of diabetes, as well as risk factors and diabetes-related complications, across diverse populations.
Using large-scale electronic health record data, the project characterizes the burden of diabetes and its complications by age, sex, diabetes type, race and ethnicity, and geographic region. These findings provide timely, accurate data to inform public health initiatives, guide clinical programs, and support efforts to improve diabetes prevention and management.
