Benaroya Research Institute Welcomes Two New Board Members

Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI) announced two new members to its Board of Directors: Paul Hughes and Donald P. Schenk.

Paul HughesMr. Hughes is currently the Managing Director of Investment Banking at Blacktorch Capital, LLC in Seattle. He has been a financial consultant for more than 33 years across healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, sports and banking organizations. His experience extends from debt/equity transactions, financial restructuring, mergers and acquisitions to recapitalizations, management buyouts and other areas of finance.


Proctor SchenkMr. Schenk has been a private consultant in strategic planning and financial advisory services for the aviation services industry, owning his own consulting firm for more than 25 years. Prior to opening his consulting firm in New York City, he was the Managing Director for Bankers Trust in specialty lending.  Mr. Schenk is also a guest lecturer in aviation fuel at several universities including Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and Vaughn College. He is a graduate of Columbia College and holds a MBA from Columbia University School of Business. Mr. Schenk has served on multiple Boards, including the Bainbridge Community Foundation, the Kossoye Development Project, and Wonders of Aviation’s South African and US nonprofits.
