Bio Edward Irvine

Edward Irvine, PhD

Assistant Member; Principal Investigator, Irvine Lab; Center for Systems Immunology

Edward Irvine received his BS in Biology from Stanford University in 2016 and his PhD in Biological Sciences in Public Health from Harvard University in 2022. He conducted his doctoral research in the laboratories of Galit Alter, PhD, and Sarah Fortune, MD, studying antibody responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection and vaccination. He then completed his postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Sai Reddy, PhD, at ETH Zürich, where he developed machine learning-guided platforms to map, predict, and design protein function. Dr. Irvine joined the faculty of Benaroya Research Institute as an Assistant Member in 2026. His research focuses on understanding how antibodies and other proteins communicate with immune cells and developing new ways to engineer these interactions to improve human health.
