Center for Interventional Immunology

Dr. Greenbaum is a member of BRI’s Center for Interventional Immunology and a leader in efforts to prevent and delay type 1 diabetes (T1D) and improve outcomes for people living with the disease. She earned her medical degree from Brown University and completed her endocrinology fellowship at the University of Washington.

As a clinical investigator, Dr. Greenbaum focuses on understanding the causes and progression of T1D and evaluating interventions designed to preserve insulin-producing beta cells and alter the course of disease. Her research spans clinical trials, biomarker discovery, and the development of strategies to identify individuals at risk for T1D before symptoms appear.

Dr. Greenbaum previously served as chair of Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet, a National Institutes of Health sponsored international consortium dedicated to testing disease-modifying therapies for T1D, and currently serves as co-principal investigator of the TrialNet Clinical Hub. She has led and contributed to numerous academic- and industry-sponsored clinical trials aimed at preventing, delaying or treating T1D as well as clinical research studies exploring disease mechanisms.

Her work continues to advance biomarkers, clinical trial approaches, and therapeutic strategies that improve outcomes for people at risk for or living with T1D and other autoimmune diseases.
