Megan Smithmyer, PhD

Staff Scientist; Center for Interventional Immunology

Megan Smithmyer, PhD is a Staff Scientist at the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI) in the Center for Interventional Immunology. Her current research focuses on understanding the diversity immune response in the healthy adult immune system. By mapping the boundaries of a “normal” immune response, her work contributes to our understanding of the ways the immune system deviates during disease. Her other work includes understanding COVID-19 response in people with diabetes.
