Position: Research Technician III

Responsibilities and Qualifications: A Research Technician III is needed for a laboratory in the Center for Control of Inflammation and Tissue Repair to work on cardiac and skeletal muscle tissue engineering and tissue repair using both stem cells and adult myocytes. Qualifications include a BA/BS in a relevant scientific field, and 3-6 years of post-graduate training and/or advanced level experience. Proficiency is required in tissue culture (cardiac or skeletal primary cell or stem cell culture preferred), western blot, advanced histopathology, RT-PCR, and assisting in rodent surgery. Desirable skills also include flow cytometry, ELISA, molecular biology, vector construction, and performing complex rodent surgery. Experience in cardiac/skeletal muscle functional assessments would also be pertinent. Must have excellent organizational, mathematical, and statistical analytic skills. Excellent command of verbal and written English is required for literature reviews, supporting scientists and supervising students, writing protocols and animal care proposals, preparing progress reports and presentations, and contributing to grants and manuscripts. A flexible schedule is needed and occasional partial day weekend work should be expected.
