Responsibilities and Qualifications: A Research Technician II is needed for a laboratory in the Center for Control of Inflammation and Tissue Repair to work on cardiac and skeletal muscle tissue engineering and tissue repair using both stem cells and adult myocytes.  Qualifications include a BA/BS in a scientific field, and 2-3 years of experience and/or post-graduate training.  Proficiency requirements include tissue culture (cardiac or skeletal primary cell or stem cell culture preferred), western blot, immunocytochemistry and image analysis, RT-PCR, and assisting in rodent surgery.  Desirable skills also include flow cytometry, ELISA, FISH, vector construction, and performing complex rodent surgery. Experience in cardiac/skeletal muscle functional assessments would also be pertinent.  Must have excellent organizational, mathematical, and statistical analytic skills.  Excellent command of verbal and written English is required for literature research, contributing to scientific discussion, ordering, and preparing data and reports for presentations, grants, and manuscripts.  A flexible schedule is needed and occasional partial day weekend work should be expected.
