The Cancer Clinical Research Unit (CCRU) has been providing cancer patients access to clinical trials for more than 20 years. Clinical trials are studies conducted by doctors to test whether a new drug, a new prevention strategy or a new device is effective in the treatment of patients. Formerly under the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), the CCRU was formed in 2003 to focus on the development of new therapies and to continue access for our patients to research protocols. CCRU investigators conduct as many as 60 clinical trials a year.
Our investigators specialize in hematological, HIV, gynecological, radiation, and solid tumor malignancies. A medical Unit Director, Unit Manager, nine clinical research coordinators and one research assistant facilitate the conduct of clinical trials.
