Boeing Classic, the Annual PGA TOUR Champions Event Aug. 23 - 29
We are happy to announce that the Boeing Classic, the annual PGA TOUR Champions event hosted by Virginia Mason Medical Center, will benefit the Benaroya Research Institute, beginning in 2010.
The televised Boeing Classic will be held August 23-29 at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge golf course in Snoqualmie, Wash. The event includes 78 Champions Tour professionals with 54 holes of stroke play with no cut. The Boeing Classic earned the Champions Tours 2009 Outstanding Achievement Award.
“We are honored to be selected as the beneficiary of the Boeing Classic,” says Gerald Nepom, MD, PhD, Director of BRI, an international leader in autoimmune disease research and one of the few institutes in the world dedicated to eliminating these diseases.
“Autoimmune diseases strike one in 20 Americans with conditions such as Type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, arthritis and many others,” says Dr. Nepom. “With the high visibility and public support of the Boeing Classic, we believe this will be a great partnership for increasing awareness of these devastating diseases that disproportionately affect people in the Pacific Northwest.” Funds raised during the tournament will help fund research into these diseases at BRI.
More than 1,000 volunteers helped make the Boeing Classic a big success in 2009. The volunteers’ “can do” attitude, energy and passion is truly appreciated. In exchange for your time and volunteer fee, you will receive the official Boeing Classic Volunteer Package (valued at over $275) that includes event polo shirts, a jacket, cap, admission passes and many other benefits.
