Working together to bring clinical research trials to Alaskans.
Welcome
To date, Alaskans have had limited access to cutting-edge medical research. However, through a grant from the Rasmuson Foundation, the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason Medical Center is working with health care professionals throughout Alaska to increase enrollment in innovative clinical research in an effort to improve Alaskan’s lives.
Clinical research can improve the screening, diagnosis and prevention of a variety of devastating diseases while also making the latest therapeutic options available to the participants. This work will supplement the good work of the individual providers and agencies already serving patients in Alaska.
Research Trials Available
Alaskan patients and their families affected by diseases noted below in parentheses may be eligible for clinical trials in these areas:
- Cancer (breast, pancreatic, prostate and others)
- Diabetes
- Gastroenterology (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis)
- Neurology (multiple sclerosis, brain tumors)
- Urology (prostate, kidney)
- Rheumatic Diseases (Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Scleroderma, Relapsing Polychondritis)
The Rasmuson Foundation’s generous grant covers airfare, ground transportation and lodging for eligible Alaskans who wish to participate in clinical research trials being conducted at BRI. For more information please read the FAQ's.
